To wake up with no contacts or glasses is amazing.... Especially when it was almost a contest in high school to see how many months we could wear monthly contacts without taking them out... Bascially as they deteriorated on our eyes. I think the record for me was about 6 months of monthly view contacts without taking them out for any period. I'm sure I still have some of the contact merged into my eyes. Not sure what version you had but I had the laser cut, laser burn version, but yes... as you sat there during the operation there were some you interns sitting in as your doctor turned the laser on and you could smell your eyes burning under the laser. Then to only walk out in pure burning pain like when when we were maced for the "haircut bet" was absolutely terrible. My biggest problem was when the doctor told me to follow the red light with your eyes... And I responded that I am color deficient only for him to say I should be fine...
